Moving House
Sunday, December 10th 2006 - 7:59 PM

Well, it looks like i'm moving house! The place i'm living in now - which is provided by the organisation i work for - is going to finish at the end of January so i'm going to have to move out.

Fortunately, though, i've found somewhere else to live already. And when i come back from England in mid January, i'm moving across town to a suburb called Taimeni. I'll be sharing with a woman called Roya, who i work with - although she's looking for another job at the moment - and someone else who i haven't met yet.

I'll miss my mountain view and the walk to work in the morning, but it will be nice to have a change of scenery.

In some ways, living in this house is starting to irritate me. Because my employer is my landlord too, and because i'm a sort of manager there, i tend to have to do a lot of management at home too - which is a pain in the arse, because it's so hard to actually get anything done where i work. And everthing about this house is half-arsed and bodgy and it drives me mad sometimes.

But i am a bit concerned about the claustrophobia aspect of it. One thing that helps keep me sane here is being able to sit at the desk in my bedroom and gaze out at the mountain in the middle distance - well, it's a hill, really, but it kinda looks like a mountain. And Kabul is about 1800 metres up, so i guess technically it probably is a mountain.

So life will be quite different when i come back after christmas. I think that's a good thing...
