This is the blog i wrote about my life in Afghanistan during the eight months i worked there in 2006 and 2007.
I was working as technical advisor and project manager for an "NGO" (Non-Government Organization) that was building and maintaining community radio stations all over Afghanistan. I was based in a large office in Kabul, working with about fifty Afghans and half a dozen foreigners.
During the course of my job, i travelled to other parts of Afghanistan, including Logar, to the south of Kabul, Badghis, in the west, Laghman, in the east, and Panjshir in the north. I also did a road trip to Peshawar in Pakistan's lawless North West Frontier Province.
Living in Kabul was challenging, but it was interesting. I was lucky to have been in Afghanistan at a time when living there was easier than it is now (in 2008). The work the armed forces are doing there is essential, as it would be a terrible disaster for the Afghan people if the Taliban regained power.
